We have one vision – “To Create and Deliver the Best Integrated Plant Engineering Solution and Services” to help our customers to improve their project planning, investment optimization, risk management, project completion speed and energy efficiency of the plants.

With this vision, we are continuously improving and enhancing CADISON and we are pleased to announce the launch of the new release i.e. CADISON R19. The major focus of CADISON R19 was on improving usability by enhancing the User Experience. This time for R19 development, we took a different approach and spent time to understand the challenges of the Process department and the need-gaps for the CADISON Users. What we have learned – with that we brought a focus on improving the performance of some existing capabilities through technology upgradation and this can be best seen in our Isometrics, Report Generation and Database Cleanup tools. We have improved the UI in Project Engineer & PDM modules.

Our big news in CADISON R19 is the introduction of Process Documentation capability in our P&ID Designer module. This will transform how Process Documentation is done by Process Engineers or by the P&ID Users.

Another substantial addition is the IFC Interface in CADISON R19 to facilitate interoperability in the AEC Industry. IFC addresses the major challenge of the industry- i.e. CAD data exchange irrespective of different file formats of various software between multiple disciplines.

CADISON R20: Simplify complex processes in Plant Design

With CADISON R20, ITandFactory responds to increased demands of engineers

  • Simplified creation of P&ID‘s
  • Construction set editor for efficient plant design
  • Enhanced IFC interface
  • Improved User Experience

Bad Soden am Taunus, 01 February 2021

Intensive global competition, digitalisation, new working methods and increasing interdisciplinary networking – are the increased requirements that also apply to Plant engineering. The focus of the developers for the new CADISON Release R20 was therefore on simplifying the processes within Plant designing, reducing the manual work steps, minimising errors and thus increasing productivity in engineering while not losing sight of the future needs of the users.

As a basis for the new release, the developers have analysed the basic engineering - i.e. the creation and editing of P&ID Flow diagrams and P&IDs - in detail for potential for improvement as the P&ID is the Master document for the entire planning and design of a Plant.

Back to basics: P&ID design as the basis for success

"We analyzed ourselves: What do our users really need to better manage the complex steps of P&ID design? Because at the end of the day, it forms the solid basis for planning and designing a system," said Stefan Kraus, Head of Development at ITandFactory. For example: It is not uncommon, that when the schematics are completed in the final phase, the line layout has to be completely changed again. Until now, the engineers had to correct the tagging and labelling manually in the last step. CADISON R20 automatically adjusts the tagging. This not only reduces the error rate significantly but also saves the engineers a lot of time and spare their nerves, especially with comprehensive P&IDs.

Working with Construction sets: Crucial for efficient Plant Design

Another important element for simplified and reduced manual processes is working with Construction sets. They represent standardised units, such as pump groups.
To fully exploit the potential of this way of working, CADISON R20 includes a new editor for the Construction sets. "With the new feature, our users can easily edit the created units," explains Stefan Kraus. "This results in enormous time savings when maintaining existing assemblies. Using the editor, engineers can not only edit the graphical representation for a drawing type (e.g. PID) but they can also add additional graphical representations for other drawing types (e.g. 3D layout plan)." A value addition: the defined Construction sets can be expanded in a targeted and continuous manner - building on what already exists and has been tested in practice. In this way, customers can use them for other projects in the future.

Another step towards BIM for Plant engineering: expansion of the IFC interface

In the previous version, ITandFactory laid the foundation for networked and digitised cooperation between the specialist disciplines beyond Plant designing with the IFC interface. With the IFC interface, there is no longer any need for specifications regarding the software used.
"Based on the feedback from our customers, we have optimized the workflow for this data exchange", explains Kraus. Now CADISON users can predefine the import and export of data and standardise it for recurring processes. Among other things, this facilitates the transfer of up-to-date information to and from client as well as to external planning partners.

Focus on User friendliness

In addition to these improvements, the focus was on “user experience“. An improved display of the relevant information leads to greater planning reliability when synchronising the P&ID and the 3D installation plan. When placing components, the software visualises and compares whether the installation situation in the P&ID corresponds to the installation situation in 3D. Also, the development team has optimised the collaboration in a multi-user environment for enhanced productivity. Hence, changes made on one workstation are also visible on other workstations at the push of a button.

CADISON R21 - The New CADISON Release with over 200 Enhancements

An Overview of the most important features:

ITandFactory GmbH has started the new year with the new release of the CADISON R21, making it a leading edge engineering software. With over 200 new enhancements, the CADISON development team has revised and significantly improved all modules: From design & planning in 2D and 3D to the creation of P&IDs or circuit diagrams to enhanced document management in MATPIPE.

The new version has been released and CADISON Users can download the R21 from the customer portal.

CADISON R21 is now compatible with AutoCAD 2022 on the Windows 10 operating system with 64-bit environment. It also supports AutoCAD 2020 and AutoCAD 2021 for customers who are still in the migration phase but want to take full advantage of CADISON R21.

Highlights at a glance:

Create a layout drawing with a click
With this new release of CADISON R21, creation of a new layout drawing is achieved with a single click. A template that already contains the details of Drawing Border and Title Block, simplifies this step considerably. And thus the exchange of a Drawing Border and Title Block is possible without any additional questions from the software.

“CADISON Publish": Automated export of drawings
This new command allows you to define and save configurable export options. At any point, the defined export processes can be triggered again. The export process is carried out automatically in the background so that users can continue to work during this time. In addition, export operations no longer have to be carried out manually.

Extensions to the IFC interface facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration
Previously, the attributes to be exported to external systems were fixed to the CADISON object type. In CADISON R21, another object’s property can also control the attributes to be exported. This has the advantage that the sender can specify conditions that the recipient, who does not work with CADISON, also understands the exported data. This will further simplify the data exchange with project participants from other disciplines. In addition to this, the exported IFC data can contain information about buildings and floors from the CADISON project. This makes it easier for the recipient to integrate the data from CADISON into a building model.

MATPIPE made more advanced for Simpler Document Management
Since the management and access of the right documents is a key factor for our users, CADISON R21 has been significantly improved to make the document management in MATPIPE much more simple. In addition, the automated output of the datasheets in the required language is now possible. With the new functions in MATPIPE, users are saved from a lot of manual work. And it will be even easier to fulfill the documentation per necessary standards.

Simplified import of Inventor and other 3D CAD models in the 3D Designer
With the improved import function, a pipe class is assigned to a connection port. Complete connection information can then be determined from this connection point. This also allows the automatic completion of the pipeline from CADISON, which can be used immediately, thus making the subsequent piping of the imported 3D model significantly easier and more precise. In this way, seals, counter flanges and screw groups are generated fully automatically.

Symbol editing is made easy with the New Editor
With the new Symbol Editor, CADISON users can display the definition of existing symbols (such as taps, valves or pumps) with all connections and attributes in a drawing. Based on existing symbol definitions, it is possible to create new symbols. Alternatively, users can edit existing symbols directly from the Object Manager to change the graphics, connections and attributes. This makes it easier to revise symbols. In addition, the symbols can be adapted to the client's standards effortlessly.

Improvements in the Form Designer and Input Forms
The Input Forms and the Form Designer have been regularly improved and are now core components of the system, as CADISON users use them intensively. R21 comes with a completely renewed Form Designer. Thus, the development team has once again implemented customer requirements to the point to make it more user friendly.
